Almost forty years ago Tom started dating the woman he would later marry. Once it was clear that they were very serious, she gave an ultimatum: He had to love Nantucket or Tom was out of her life. Wisely, Tom took a quick vacation, and as he put it, “What’s not to love about Nantucket? Lucky me!” Tom and his wife rented for almost 20 years before buying a tiny cottage in Nantucket Town. Tom became a licensed real estate appraiser in 1987, and a few years later he became a commercial real estate broker in an attempt to capitalize on the savings and loan crash (the appraisal business dwindled to a trickle at the same time). In 2002 he came to the island full time to practice as a Nantucket real estate broker. Buying or selling property on Nantucket involves a lot of money. Tom’s has a strong belief a buyer or seller should choose a real estate agent in the same way they choose their financial advisor or accountant. He believes the single most important attribute of an agent is to find someone they can trust unquestionably to put their clients' interest ahead of everything else, always.
