Stephen’s family started coming to the island in the early 70’s when they started the Bowler Company men’s clothing store. Stephen and his family moved here full time when he was 4 in 1988. Stephen has a background in finance and hospitality, graduating from Lehigh with a BS in finance in 2006. He worked at Macy’s Corporate offices in San Francisco as a capital analyst from 2006 to 2008 and began working in the wine industry in the summer of 2009 on Nantucket. In 2014 Stephen co-founded The Nautilus restaurant on Nantucket, where he worked as General Manager and Wine Director and ran the company's finances from 2014 to 2017. In late 2016 Stephen joined forces with Henry & Stephen Maury to co-found the 02554. Stephen loved Growing up here for a variety of reasons – the great community, his great group of friends, and seeing the population explode in the summer. He loves to read and write and is an avid music fan with a burgeoning vinyl collection. Stephen has extensively travelled the world, spending time over the past 8 years in places such as Asia, South America, Central America, the Caribbean, and Western Europe. He is a certified sommelier and loves wine, as well as food and beverage in general. He loves to learn about current events and the world, and spends his free time with his fiancee Mary and his dog Moby. Like any good islander, Stephen also loves the beach, According to Stephen “I’ve been to some of the most amazing beaches in the entire world from Thailand to Mexico and all things in between, and I think the beaches to the west of Miacomet pond behind the Golf Course is are as good or better than anywhere in the world. It’s peaceful, perfectly windswept, perfectly exposed to the sun, has the right amount of surf, and has high dunes to block a bit of the wind. You have to go a bit off road to get there and it just feels like you’re in your own little oasis, even in the height of the summer.” Stephen is personable, perceptive, insightful and thoughtful, and loves hard work and especially a good challenge. He loves Nantucket and is always eager to pass that love along to others looking to experience the island.
